Illinois Speech Therapy has done a masterful job of helping my family member who lost 100% of her speech due to a stroke. My sibling has shown remarkable improvement by working with Grace, our assigned therapist. Grace is timely, organized, inclusive, encouraging, educational, compassionate, & most of all patient. She always comes prepared with a plan for each session by providing educational tools & printouts tailored to the specific patient for home self practice. Physical exercises are also introduced. I have been extremely satisfied with my experience with this company and give it 5 stars.

I knew I was having difficulty swallowing medically prescribed pills, but I had no idea how to prevent the problem from happening. I looked on the internet but found nothing that presented a protocol I could rely on to work before I got a pill stuck. Everything I found was how to unstick pills. Carissa was very understanding of my concern and worrying about my situation. She took great care in explaining the physical mechanisms in the throat that are involved in swallowing any food or drinks or pills. Carissa used a cross section diagram of the entire head and throat as she explained how things work. Since I am a visual person, this was key to me taking it all in and retaining the information. Most importantly, her very nurturing approach gave me great confidence that I would never have the problem again if I followed her guidelines. I'm getting ready for my 4th week of treatment, and so far I have not had a single pill get stuck!

I have had four therapists in the time that I have dealt with my swallowing problems. Carissa is by far the most competent, empathetic and knowledgeable by far. I greatly appreciate her guidance and help.
